The power of community will be on full display this April as Galion Kiwanis teams up with Pioneer students to host a spirited Uptowne Cleanup event. Taking place on Thursday, April 25 from 9 AM to 2 PM, volunteers will gather at the Gazebo to help beautify the heart of Galion.
A Day of Service and Civic Pride
In honor of Community Service Day, this collaborative effort invites residents, business owners, and local students to roll up their sleeves and give back to the place they call home. The event isn’t just about trash bags and mulch—it’s about making a visible impact and encouraging civic pride in Galion’s historic Uptowne district.
Activities that Make a Difference
Volunteers will tackle several essential tasks aimed at sprucing up public spaces and storefronts, including:
- Picking up litter
- Pulling weeds
- Mulching
- Planting
- Trimming
Whether you have 10 minutes or two hours, all levels of participation are welcome and appreciated. Tools such as rakes, shovels, and brooms will be provided, and local businesses are encouraged to join by tidying up their own storefronts and cheering on the student volunteers.

That’s the rallying cry of Galion Kiwanis, and it’s a message they live by. With a mission to improve the world “one child and one community at a time,” the organization supports a range of local efforts benefiting children and families throughout the area.
Galion Kiwanis holds weekly meetings Tuesdays at 12:00 PM at Carrie’s Venue and is always looking for new members who are passionate about service.
