A Haven for Young Minds: Fall Storytime
The Galion Public Library, located at 123 North Market Street, is a cornerstone of the community, offering a variety of programs to engage minds young and old. One such program is the Fall Storytime, scheduled for Wednesday, September 20 at 10:15 AM. The Community Room will open its doors for this enriching experience aimed at fostering a love for reading and storytelling among children. Storytime takes place on Tuesday or Wednesday each week, however please note that Storytime takes a break during May and December and may also be affected by holidays.
Lights, Camera, Animation: Studio Ghibli Movie Night
For those who appreciate the art of animation, the library has something special in store. On Thursday, September 21st, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, the library will host a Studio Ghibli Movie Night featuring “The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.” This event occurs every other month on the third Thursday and is open to all ages. However, space is limited, so punctuality is advised.
Studio Ghibli films are more than just animated movies; they are cultural phenomena that offer deep insights into various aspects of life, making them perfect for family discussions post-viewing.
Unplug and Play: Adult Game Night
Adults need playtime too, and the Galion Public Library understands this well. On Monday, September 25th, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM, the library will host an Adult Game Night. This event is not just about games; it’s about community building. Snacks and refreshments will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own.
In an increasingly digital world, face-to-face social interactions are becoming rare. Adult Game Night serves as a reminder of the joys and benefits of direct social engagement.
Roll the Dice: Adult Dungeons and Dragons
The library also caters to the fantasy enthusiasts among us. On Tuesday, September 26th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, an Adult Dungeons and Dragons campaign will unfold. This event is for players aged 17 and above, and seats are limited to just six players. Interested parties should email nico@galionlibrary.org to secure a spot.
Role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons offer more than just entertainment; they also encourage creative thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Teen Ghost Hunt
On Saturday, September 30 at 5:00 PM the library will host a Teen Ghost Hunt at Brownella Cottage. This event is intended for grades 6 to 12, and limited ghost hunting equipment will be available.
