Wombat Solar’s 2025 Community Grant Program is off to a powerful start with a slate of recipients whose work highlights the rich legacy and vibrant future of Crawford County. In its first round of the year, thirteen local nonprofits and organizations were awarded funding aimed at strengthening everything from public health to youth sports and the performing arts.
Leading the list is the Crawford Agricultural Society, awarded the largest grant of $4,000. The funds will be used to improve facilities at the county fairgrounds and support Junior Fair Awards, helping ensure the beloved tradition continues to grow and engage new generations.
Fueling Summer Events and Community Health
Wombat Solar’s grants will also energize some of Crawford County’s most cherished summer happenings. The Bratwurst Festival is gearing up for a major musical guest, while Crawford County Public Health prepares for its annual GuardCare event—a no-cost health clinic offered in partnership with the Ohio National Guard.
“GuardCare is an amazing partnership… to provide a wide variety of health services at no cost—dental exams, lab work, mammograms, and more—regardless of income,” said Kate Siefert, Health Commissioner. “This event would not be possible without local contributions like Wombat Solar’s grant.”
Supporting Creativity and Youth Engagement
Among the new grant recipients are the Bucyrus Little Theatre, Galion Girls Summer Softball, and New Washington Youth Baseball. For the Bucyrus Little Theatre, the funding comes at a transformative time.
“We are very appreciative of Wombat’s support of the performing arts,” said Cindy Light, a representative of the Theatre. “We are so happy to have a new digital screen. This will be a really cool thing for our community.” Their June production of Schoolhouse Rock Live will debut the technology.
Empowering Ongoing Community Impact
Several organizations were recognized for their ongoing impact and received repeat funding, including The Salvation Army, Jefferson Township Fire Department, Wynford Local Schools, Freedom Fellowship Food Pantry, Crawford County Arts Council, Life First Ambulance District, and the Crawford County Society for Aiding the Physically Disabled.
“This quarter’s overwhelming number of applications reminded us just how much great work is happening—and still needed—throughout Crawford County,” said Leah Cordy, Director of Community Relations at Wombat Solar. “We’re proud to support a record number of organizations this round and remain deeply committed to being a long-term partner in driving meaningful change.”
