Galion’s favorite holiday event, Come Home to Galion, is back on December 7, bringing with it a full day of family-friendly fun, festive activities, and community spirit. This cherished celebration invites everyone to gather together for a joyful day that culminates in a lively parade featuring Santa Claus himself and a grand tree lighting to officially kick off the holiday season.

From traditional favorites to new holiday experiences, Come Home to Galion is all about bringing warmth and cheer to the community. And this year, you can play a significant part in making the event a reality!

A Festive Lineup of Holiday Favorites

Throughout the day, families will be delighted by a range of classic holiday activities designed to spread the holiday spirit. Festivities include:

  • Cookie Decorating: Families can roll up their sleeves and get creative with festive cookies.
  • Letters to Santa: Children can write and share their Christmas wishes with Santa.
  • Live Music and Entertainment: Enjoy caroling, dancing, and other live performances.
  • Visits from Winter Princesses: Kids can meet and take photos with their favorite winter princesses.
  • Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides: Take a scenic ride through Galion’s beautifully decorated downtown.
  • Shopping with Local Vendors: Support local businesses by shopping for unique holiday gifts at mom-and-pop stores.

Additional activities include tours of Brownella Cottage and the Galion Public Library, both of which will be decked out for the season.

Building a Winter Wonderland for the Community

To make this year even more memorable, the Come Home to Galion committee is planning to create a special Winter Wonderland space that could last throughout December, maybe even into January! This winter oasis will offer residents and visitors alike a cozy atmosphere to stroll, take photos, and enjoy more holiday-themed activities. But to make this a reality, the committee is asking for your help.

Help Bring Holiday Cheer to Galion: Donation Opportunities

Come Home to Galion is a volunteer-driven event, made possible by the dedication of local citizens, businesses, organizations, and churches. This year, the committee needs your support more than ever to cover costs for treats, letters to Santa, entertainment, and advertising. Here’s how you can contribute:

  • $50 Donation: Helps cover the cost of supplies for cookie decorating and letters to Santa.
  • $100 Donation: Supports live entertainment and local performers to bring the holiday spirit.
  • $200 Donation or More: Assists in developing the Winter Wonderland, adding seasonal decorations, photo spots, and festive touches that everyone can enjoy.

With a contribution of any amount, you’ll play a vital role in bringing this holiday tradition to life for the community. Businesses that donate can receive special recognition on the Come Home to Galion banner, which will be proudly displayed in Uptowne during the event. For larger sponsorship opportunities, such as becoming the Parade Sponsor or the Winter Wonderland Sponsor, businesses are encouraged to reach out to Beth Anne for more details on how to get involved.
