As promised, we are updating our previous story on Depot Day to give our readers more of a taste of what is in store.
Friends of the Galion Big Four Depot (FBFD) has announced the details of their Depot Day event which will be held at the Galion Big Four Depot, 127 N. Washington Street on Saturday, May 13, 10 AM. to 4 PM. This is an annual free event that is open to everyone and whose main purposes are to showcase the Depot and inform the public about local train history.
There will be a variety of displays to view and other activities, including a train art activity table by Crawford County Arts Council. There will be tours of the Big Four Depot and several history and train safety talks in the pavilion on the depot grounds.
The scheduled talk line up is:
- 11 a.m.- Bill Fisher “Crawford County Iron Horse Power”
- 1 p.m. Mike Hocker “Here At The Depot Through The Years”
- 2 p.m. David Robinson (Ohio Operation Lifesavers) “Train Safety”
- 3 p.m. Mike Hocker “Here At The Depot Through The Years”
The event will also feature door prize drawings and raffle items. Musical entertainment will start at 12:15 PM provided by the Galion Alumni/Community Band, directed by Brian Triesch.
Food will be available throughout the day from “The Messy Bun”. Attendees may purchase a variety of sandwiches and drinks at their food stand.
