The Ohio Bird Sanctuary is introducing an exclusive opportunity for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers alike in the coming year. Dubbed “Snapshot Sundays,” this monthly event, beginning in 2024, offers a unique chance to capture the beauty of birds in their natural habitats.
A Unique Photographic Journey
Set amidst the serene backdrop of the Sanctuary, located at 3774 Oreweiler Road near Clearfork Reservoir and southeast of Galion, Snapshot Sundays will occur on the first Sunday of every month. From 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, participants will engage in a one-hour session featuring three of the Sanctuary’s resident birds. This event not only promises stunning visual experiences but also includes educational interactions with the Sanctuary’s dedicated keepers.
Limited Availability for an Intimate Experience
Recognizing the importance of a personal and unobstructed encounter, the Sanctuary limits each session to 25 participants. This decision ensures that each guest enjoys a close and intimate experience with these majestic birds of prey. Interested individuals are encouraged to reserve their spots promptly, as the limited availability is expected to attract considerable interest.
Snapshot Sundays go beyond mere photography. The ticket, priced at $35 per person, includes full-day access to the Sanctuary’s various attractions. Guests can explore walking trails, the unique treehouse, and the bird display area, along with the songbird aviary. This comprehensive experience caters to all ages, making it a perfect family outing.
A Platform for Emerging Talent
In a bid to celebrate and promote the talent of its participants, the Ohio Bird Sanctuary offers a unique opportunity for photographers to have their work featured. Whether it’s in newsletters, on social media platforms, or in print advertisements, the best photographs stand a chance to gain widespread recognition. Participants can submit up to five photographs per session, with a submission deadline of two weeks post-session.
The Grand Prize: Photo of the Year
Adding to the excitement, the Sanctuary will select a ‘Photo of the Year’ after the December session. This distinguished photograph will be proudly displayed in the Visitor’s Center for a full calendar year, offering a significant accolade for the winning photographer.
Bird Variety and Rotation
While the Sanctuary cannot guarantee the presence of specific birds at each session, they strive to showcase a diverse array, including both nocturnal and diurnal hunters. This rotation ensures a fresh and varied experience for repeat visitors throughout the year.
