Come Home To Galion Celebrates The Season (With Photos) 🎄🐴

The streets of Uptowne Galion transformed into a picturesque winter wonderland this past Saturday as Come Home to Galion welcomed families and friends to bask in the festive cheer. Despite the brisk temperatures, hundreds ventured out, proving that holiday magic has no bounds.

Creativity and Cheer at Galion Landmarks

Inside the Galion Community Theatre, young artists crafted whimsical watercolor Christmas cards, their creations blooming under the soft glow of over a dozen stunningly decorated trees, each a testament to the local businesses and organizations that adorned them. Meanwhile, the Galion Public Library hosted its beloved holiday open house, delighting visitors with live music and warm cookies fresh from the oven.

Over at the Central Hotel, little hands busily penned letters to Santa with the help of enthusiastic volunteers, the crackling holiday spirit palpable in every room.

Holiday Traditions Ride Through the Streets

No Galion holiday celebration is complete without the clip-clop of horse-drawn carriages, and this year was no exception. Guests bundled up for a cozy ride along the scenic route of Market, Church, Union, and Walnut Streets. Meanwhile, Public Square came alive with seasonal music and performances as singers, musicians, and dancers took center stage, spreading joy to all who stopped to watch. Local shops like The Evergreen Company, Three Bean Coffee, and K.C.’s Aquaworld and many others buzzed with patrons soaking in the festive atmosphere.

A Walk Through History and a Touch of Magic

The Merry Galion Walk offered a special treat: a surprise appearance by a reenactor portraying Florence Harding, the former First Lady and one of Galion’s notable past residents. As she shared stories of her time in the area, walkers rang jingle bells each time “Santa Claus” was mentioned, their journey ending at Brownella Cottage during its own open house.

A Dazzling Finale

The day concluded with a breathtaking parade featuring over 30 floats and performers, culminating in the lighting of the town’s grand Christmas tree. The glow of the lights reflected the smiles of everyone gathered—a true highlight of the season.

While 1831Galion couldn’t capture every magical moment, we were there for much of the day’s excitement. Stay tuned in the coming days for our collection of photos and videos, guaranteed to rekindle the holiday joy and anticipation as Christmas draws closer. A few of those images are shared below.
