As Friday began, there was some concern whether the rainy skies would continue throughout the day, wreaking havoc on the first Third Friday in Galion of the year.
As the afternoon progressed it became clear – literally – that that was not going to be an issue. Some clouds persisted but no precipitation took place as hundreds gathered for the Uptowne event.
Music was provided by the American Federation of Musicians Local #159 Band from Mansfield, which played marches, patriotic music, and other orchestral favorites; followed by the band “Tightrope,” a rock band from Loudonville playing hits from the 1960’s through today.
Vendors lined the north end of Public Square and the first half block of North Market Street. Several Uptowne merchants extended their hours for the convenience of attendees.
