Galion Opens Bidding For 2025 Street Paving Program

The wheels of progress are turning once again in Galion as the city has officially opened the bidding process for its 2025 Street Paving Program.

The City of Galion is inviting sealed proposals for the comprehensive resurfacing effort, which includes both the removal of existing wearing course and the installation of new asphalt surfaces across more than 20 roads. Bids will be accepted until 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the Municipal Building located at 301 Harding Way East.

What’s Being Paved

Residents across the city can expect smoother rides on a variety of streets, stretching from residential lanes to key thoroughfares. The following streets are slated for improvements:

  • Carter Drive (end-to-end)
  • Gill Avenue (from Erie to Harding Way and the Heise Park loop)
  • North Union Street (from Harding Way to Erie)
  • Center Street (Westgate to south terminus)
  • Bloomer, Primrose, and King (all end-to-end)
  • Grant Street (Fairview to King)
  • North Columbus Street (Payne to Grant)
  • First Avenue (Harding Way to Dawsett)
  • South Street (Covert Way to Richardson)
  • West Walnut Street (S. Market to Liberty)
  • West Atwood Street (railroad tracks to Pierce)
  • South East Street (Harding Way to Walnut)
  • Riblet Street (Dawsett to Richardson)
  • Fellows Street, Westwood Drive, and Homer Street (all end-to-end)
  • West Railroad Street (S. Market to S. Boston)
  • Mackey Street (John to Clymer)

This widespread paving initiative is part of the city’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure upgrades, promising better driving conditions and extended pavement life for years to come.

How to Bid

Contractors interested in participating must submit sealed proposals, including all labor, materials, and equipment, by the deadline. Details and specifications are available from the City of Galion. The work will be awarded in accordance with local contracting procedures following the opening of bids.
