A Colorful And Creative Early July At The Library

July is bursting with activity at the Galion Public Library as the annual Summer Reading Program continues, inviting readers of all ages to “Color Our World.” This vibrant theme sets the tone for the library’s imaginative displays, festive events, and engaging activities. Beginning June 2 and running through the end of July, the program transforms the library into a global celebration of books, community, and creativity.

Visitors to the library will immediately notice the four centerpiece displays inspired by the summer theme. These eye-catching exhibits are complemented by a rotating collection of books and items that reflect July’s highlights. At the main entrance, the “Around the World” display brings global cultures to life, with selections from each continent. Nearby, a display dedicated to “Freedom” honors Independence Day with inspiring reads, while another near the community puzzle area celebrates Disability Pride Month, showcasing stories and voices from the disability community.

Prizes, Perks, and Plenty of Pages

Adults living in Crawford County—and beyond—are encouraged to join the Summer Reading Program for a chance to win weekly and monthly prizes. Local businesses have generously contributed gift cards for mini prizes, including KC’s Aquaworld, The Evergreen Company, and The Three Bean Coffee House.

The June grand prize is a Board Game Bundle, and July’s is a coveted LEGO Botanical Bundle. Every prize winner also receives a magnetic bookmark and an enamel pin. Signing up is simple: just visit the upstairs circulation desk, choose a Reading Log Bookmark from ten unique designs, and start reading. Each book read earns one entry into the prize drawings, with no limit on entries. It’s a no-cost way to enjoy summer and celebrate your love of books.

Fun and Fellowship with July Programs

In addition to reading challenges and displays, the library has lined up some engaging in-person events. On Monday, July 7, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM, Bingo! For Books returns with a special Summer Reading twist. Held in the Community Room, this fun-filled evening includes snacks, refreshments, and the chance to win one of two brand-new books—Emily Henry’s People We Meet on Vacation and Stephen King’s Joyland—each containing a hidden gift card inside.

Later that week, on Wednesday, July 9, Coffee and Coloring takes place from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the cozy Three Bean Coffee House in Galion. This relaxed monthly meetup is perfect for anyone seeking creative downtime. Coloring supplies are provided, and the only cost is whatever beverage or treat you choose to enjoy.

A Season of Stories and Community

Whether you’re an avid reader, a coloring enthusiast, or just someone looking for a welcoming place to connect, the Galion Public Library offers something for everyone this July. With dazzling displays, generous prizes, and thoughtful programming, it’s the perfect time to stop by, sign up, and celebrate a summer of stories.
