Galion City Schools Gears Up for Back to School with Sweet Treats and Key Reminders

The countdown to a new school year is on, and Galion City Schools is kicking things off with a mix of community fun and important back-to-school information.

District Open House

Families are invited to the district’s Open House on Thursday, August 14, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, where the bright blue Kona Ice truck will be parked in the side lot of the High School. Students, parents, and staff can enjoy cool, colorful shaved ice in a variety of flavors—from Blue Raspberry and Tiger’s Blood to Piña Colada and Watermelon Wave. Even better, 20% of all proceeds will go straight to the Galion PTO to support programs and activities for students.

Transportation

Alongside the festivities, the district is reminding families to finalize transportation arrangements as soon as possible. If busing requests are not completed by Thursday, August 15, students will be placed on the New Rider List. This may mean up to a one-week delay from the time the request is received before transportation begins. During this time, families will need to arrange their own drop-off and pick-up. Once bus assignments are confirmed, transportation staff will reach out directly with route details and pick-up/drop-off times.

For questions, the Bus Garage is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and can be reached at 419-468-3432, extensions 11022 or 11024.

With sweet treats at the Open House and these key reminders in mind, Galion families can get ready for a school year that starts off on the right foot—and maybe with a bit of brain freeze.
