Galion Schools are celebrating National School Lunch Week from October 13–17, recognizing the vital role that nutritious meals play in helping students learn and thrive. The district is taking this opportunity to thank its hardworking cafeteria staff for their daily dedication to keeping students healthy and ready to learn.
“Celebrating National School Lunch Week! 🧡🐾 A huge thank-you to all of our cafeteria staff for the amazing work you do each and every day to keep our Tigers fueled and ready to learn!” the district shared.
A Week with Purpose
National School Lunch Week was established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy to spotlight the importance of balanced, nutritious school meals and their connection to student success. Today, the National School Lunch Program serves nearly 30 million children every day, with more than 933,000 lunches served daily in Ohio schools alone.
Recognizing Everyday Heroes
Throughout the week, Galion’s cafeterias will feature special activities and decorations to celebrate their teams who prepare and serve meals for hundreds of students. These dedicated staff members make sure that every child has access to food that supports energy, focus, and well-being.
Supporting Healthy Habits
Schools across Ohio are using this week to highlight the value of healthy eating and the nutritious options offered every day — including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and milk. The celebration is not only about the meals but about the people and programs that ensure students are ready to learn each morning.
For Galion Schools, National School Lunch Week is a moment to celebrate commitment, community, and care — values that help every Tiger grow strong both in and out of the classroom.
