Two Weeks Of EPA Warnings, Communication To City Of Galion

Four Ohio Environmental Protection Agency documents issued during the first eight days of July place two Galion facilities under increased regulatory scrutiny.

The most substantial is a 24-page inspection report examining the City of Galion’s wastewater treatment plant. A second wastewater filing reports new permit exceedances tied to the plant’s tertiary lagoons. Two additional notices concern renewal of the air-pollution permit for the AMP Galion Generation Station on South Street.

The documents do not all represent separate enforcement matters. The two air-permit letters appear to be different versions of the same notice. Together, however, the records raise questions about maintenance, reporting, treatment capacity, and regulatory deadlines.
