The Galion Public Library is providing one more chance this fall to turn a lucky bingo card (is there any other kind?) into a good read when the library hosts its final Bingo! for Books program of the season on Monday, November 2, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. The popular gathering combines the familiar excitement of bingo with a literary twist: instead of cash or traditional prizes, winners take home books.
After Monday’s event, the program will take a winter break before returning in February with an entirely new selection of books.
A Little Luck. A Lot Of Books.
Rules are simple. Participants can claim up to two bingo cards, grab some snacks, find a seat, and settle in for an evening of friendly competition. Each round continues until three players have called bingo. Those winners then choose books from the library’s prize selection before everyone starts again with fresh cards. Toward the end of the evening, the competition changes slightly, with one or two rounds of full-card bingo offering another opportunity to win.
And there’s good news for players whose cards never seem to cooperate. Nobody has to leave empty-handed. Even participants who don’t win a round will be welcome to select a book to take home.
A Final Look At This Season’s Selection
Monday’s gathering will also be the last opportunity to browse the current collection of prize books. When Bingo! for Books returns in February, the library plans to introduce an entirely new assortment, giving returning players fresh titles to discover. The program is designed primarily for adults ages 18 and older, although younger participants are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
What To Know Before You Go
The library asks participants to be mindful of a small scheduling detail. The community room will remain locked until 4:50 PM, ten minutes before the program begins, to give staff sufficient time to prepare. Once the doors open, guests will have an opportunity to get comfortable, look over the available books, and prepare their cards before the first numbers are called.
For regular players, Monday offers one final evening of familiar faces, friendly competition, and the possibility of discovering a new favorite book. For newcomers, it’s an opportunity to see what the program is all about before its winter hiatus. And whether the winning numbers fall their way or not, everyone can go home with something to read.
Bingo! for Books takes place Monday, November 2, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Galion Public Library.
