It was a full house at Pub House 123 on Friday evening as Galion Community Theatre brought together performers, theatre supporters, and music lovers for an evening that was about much more than entertainment.
The latest installment of Do-Re-Mi @123 featured an enthusiastic crowd, a lively mix of musical performances, and some heartfelt reflections on what community theatre has meant to those who have stepped onto its stage. 1831Galion was there to cover the evening for our readers, capturing photographs of the performers and the gathering.
Broadway Favorites and Familiar Faces
The evening brought together a lineup of performers familiar to Galion Community Theatre audiences, along with some newer faces. Performers included Jonny King, Miranda Mee, Theresa O’Deens, Drew Owens, Judson Palmer, Katie Schwall, Kimberly Spencer, Andrew Sutton, Alexa Thom, and EJ Walker.
The musical selections ranged from Broadway favorites to popular rock and pop hits, offering something for nearly everyone in attendance.
But the evening’s memorable moments were not necessarily musical. Throughout the performances, singers shared stories and personal remarks about their experiences with Galion Community Theatre and the role the organization has played in their lives. Those reflections provided a reminder that community theatre is not simply about producing shows. It is also about friendships, opportunities, personal growth, and the connections that can develop over years of working together.
More Than a Night of Music
The event was designed as both a celebration and a fundraiser, with a portion of the evening’s proceeds benefiting Galion Community Theatre and its continuing mission.
Guests had opportunities to support the organization through raffles, including a drawing for a 2027 season membership and a 50/50 raffle. A specialty drink was also part of the evening’s offerings, along with an opportunity to purchase drinks for eligible performers, with those purchases benefiting the theatre. The gathering also gave audience members a chance to mingle with performers and GCT board members in a setting considerably more informal than the traditional theatre experience.
For an organization built around the participation of local volunteers, performers, and audiences, that personal interaction was an important part of the evening’s appeal.
Looking Ahead to Another Season
The fundraiser came just two days before Galion Community Theatre’s scheduled Membership Celebration and Season Preview on Sunday, November 8, when the organization plans to announce its 2027 season. Friday’s gathering provided a fitting introduction to that occasion, bringing together many of the people who have helped make local theatre a continuing part of Galion’s cultural life.
And judging from the packed venue, that community of supporters remains an enthusiastic one.
For those who attended, Do-Re-Mi @123 offered an enjoyable evening of music. For the performers who shared their stories, it was also an opportunity to recognize a place that has meant something special in their lives.
