Crawford County’s Coordinated Drug Sweep Nets Felony Arrests, Firearms, and More

In a news release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, it was revealed that in a demonstration of coordination and resolve, law enforcement agencies across Crawford County joined forces on March 27 and 28 for a large-scale drug interdiction operation.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Crawford County METRICH Enforcement Unit, focused on high-risk areas known for drug activity and other locations of strategic interest.

Behind the Operation

The METRICH Enforcement Unit is a collaborative task force made up of officers from multiple local agencies, including:

  • Crawford County Sheriff’s Office
  • Galion Police Department
  • Bucyrus Police Department
  • New Washington Police Department
  • Crestline Police Department

Over two intensive days, officers worked together with a shared goal: disrupt the local drug trade and hold offenders accountable, while also steering individuals toward treatment when appropriate.

By the Numbers: Results of the Sweep

The statistics from the operation paint a vivid picture of its impact:

  • Total Traffic Stops: 153
  • Citations Issued: 4
  • Felony Arrests (Drug Related): 5
  • Felony Arrests (Non-Drug Related): 2
  • Misdemeanor Arrests (Non-Drug Related): 3
  • Searches Conducted: 62
  • Firearms Recovered: 1
  • Drug-Related Cases Opened: 1
  • Warrant Arrests Executed: 5
  • Individuals Connected to Treatment Services: 2

Notably, officers also seized quantities of methamphetamines and LSD, underscoring the severity of drug activity in the region.

Treatment and Enforcement: A Balanced Approach

While arrests and seizures grabbed headlines, law enforcement also made intentional efforts to connect individuals with support services. Two people encountered during the sweep were guided toward treatment options—a reflection of the growing emphasis on rehabilitation alongside enforcement.

Officials are urging community members to continue their role in keeping Crawford County safe. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activity through their local law enforcement agency or anonymously via the METRICH mobile app or online at www.metrich.com.
