Enjoy a Splashing Good Time at Heise Park
Mark your calendars for Friday, July 19! The Galion Kiwanis Club, in partnership with Russ-Men Farms, is offering a free day of swimming at the Galion Heise Park swimming pool. This exciting event is open to everyone who loves to swim, providing a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the summer sun without any cost. If the pool is closed on this day, an alternative date will be announced to ensure everyone gets a chance to participate.
Serving the Community: Galion Kiwanis Club
The Galion Kiwanis Club, the only remaining service club in Galion, is dedicated to serving the youth of the community. With a focus on health and nutrition, education and literacy, and youth leadership development, the club has made significant contributions to the betterment of the local area.
“Our causes are health and nutrition, education and literacy, and youth leadership development,” said club president Brian Treisch. “We also want to provide some fun for the youth of the community, and this was a great opportunity for us to step forward.”
Community Support from Russ-Men Farms
Russ-Men Farms, a fifth-generation farm located east of Galion, is well-known for its support of various youth projects in the region. The farm offers a wide range of products and consistently backs local agricultural initiatives. Their sponsorship of the free swimming day underscores their commitment to the community.
Informational Open House
In addition to the free swimming day, the Galion Kiwanis Club is hosting an informational open house on the same day from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Carrie’s Venue, located at 129 Harding Way East. This event will provide detailed information about the Kiwanis Club and the numerous projects they support. Refreshments will be available, and the event is part of the Third Friday in Uptowne Galion festivities.
“Kiwanis has been a part of Galion for more than 70 years, but most people don’t know what we do or how they can become a part of our mission,” said Brian Treisch. “From events at the library to our Kids Toy Drive to scholarships and more, we work to support kids in Galion.”
Join the Mission
The Galion Kiwanis Club is actively seeking new members to join their mission. They meet every Tuesday at noon at the Fellowship Hall of the First United Church of Christ, located at 248 Harding Way West. Anyone interested in learning more about the club or becoming a member is welcome to attend these meetings.
“We try to support as many projects related to our causes as we can. We are looking for more people to join us in our mission,” said Treisch.
