Honoring Self-Discipline Among Students and Staff

Four students and four staff members were celebrated for exemplifying the Portrait of a Tiger trait: Self-Discipline. This distinction highlights individuals who consistently display strong self-control, perseverance, and focus—qualities essential to personal and academic success. The honorees were nominated by their teachers across the district.

Booster Club Support Powers New Opportunities

The Galion Schools Boosters Club once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the district, with three significant donations approved during the meeting. The contributions will fund:

  1. Student Passes – Ensuring students have free access to attend events.
  2. Softball Field Repairs – Enhancing facilities for student-athletes.
  3. Basketball Uniforms – Outfitting the basketball teams with updated apparel.

The Board expressed gratitude to the Boosters Club for its ongoing investment in both student development and school spirit.

Indoor Track and Field Gains Approval

The Board unanimously approved Indoor Track and Field as an official school activity for the 2024-25 academic year. This addition marks a significant step forward for the district’s athletic program, providing students with new opportunities to compete and develop their skills in a winter sports setting.

Athletic Director Kyle Baughn highlighted the growing interest in the sport, emphasizing its potential to boost participation and performance across the district’s track and field programs.

Changes in Personnel

Personnel matters took center stage as the Board made several staffing decisions:

  • Extra Duty and Coaching Positions: Several individuals were approved for roles that support extracurricular and athletic programs.
  • Substitute Approvals: New substitutes were added to both certified and classified staff rosters.

A bittersweet moment came with the announcement of Cindy Parrott’s resignation as Director of Special Services, effective December 31, 2025. Parrott has dedicated 26 years to the Galion City School District, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and excellence in serving students with diverse needs. The Board and district staff lauded her remarkable contributions, wishing her well in her future endeavors.
