Galion Board of Education Names Shannon King As District Treasurer

The Galion Board of Education has announced the appointment of Shannon King as the district’s Treasurer, effective August 1, 2025. King, who has been a part of Galion City Schools since 2021, currently serves as the district’s Food Service Director and has made a significant impact in that role.

During her tenure, King has enhanced food service operations by expanding menu options, improving departmental efficiency, and overseeing the distribution of more than 21,000 meals during the summer months. Her leadership was instrumental in implementing the Community Eligibility Program (CEP), a federal initiative that has provided free breakfast and lunch to all Galion students for the current school year and could extend for an additional three years.

“I am honored to step into the role of Treasurer for Galion City Schools,” King said. “Great things are happening in the district, and I’m excited to collaborate with an amazing team to ensure the resources are in place to support our students and teachers.”

King will succeed Charlene Parkinson, who retired in December 2024. Parkinson will remain on as a consultant through the school year and will work closely with King during the second semester to ensure a seamless transition.

With this leadership change, the district is now seeking candidates for the Food Service Director position. Interested individuals can visit the district’s website or contact [email protected] for more information.
