Galion City Schools has announced that applications for open enrollment, Kindergarten, and preschool for the 2025-26 school year are now available. Families interested in enrolling their children are encouraged to apply early to secure their spots in the district.
Open Enrollment: Apply Before May 1
Families considering open enrollment at Galion City Schools must complete their applications by May 1. Current open-enrolled students are required to reapply each year to maintain their status.
Please note that Kindergarten screening MUST be completed at the student’s school of residence before they can open-enroll at Galion.

Kindergarten Registration Opens March 3
Scheduling for Kindergarten screening is now open for children entering Kindergarten in the 2025-26 school year. These screening appointments, available exclusively for Galion residents, will take place on April 14 and 15, with additional dates in August (TBA).
Screening Dates for the 2025-26 School Year:
- April 14: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- April 15: 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM
- August Dates: TBA
An appointment for screening is required in advance and can be made by contacting the Galion Primary School office at 419-468-4010.
Required Documentation for Screening:
- Parent/Guardian photo ID
- Proof of the child’s age
- Proof of residency
- Proof of custody
- Current immunization records
Gold Star-Rated Preschool Program Accepting Applications
Galion City Schools is also accepting applications for its Gold Star-rated preschool program, recognized for excellence in early childhood education. This program offers a nurturing and engaging environment that provides a strong foundation for young learners. With limited spots available, families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
Application packets can be picked up at the Galion Primary School office.
Summer 2025 Bootcamp for K-3 Students
Galion City Schools will offer a Summer Bootcamp for incoming Kindergarten through third-grade students.
- Kindergarteners may register for one week of boot camp. All incoming Kindergarten students are welcome to attend.
- Students in grades first through third will be invited based on academic needs and should plan to attend both weeks (or one if unavailable for both).
