Galion High School has shared news of an added vital resource for students with the arrival of Mrs. Lisa Heschel, a veteran educator with 20 years of classroom experience. Heschel began her role as career coach in September, working to help students create tailored career and vocational pathways.
Preparing Students for the Future
As career coach, Heschel focuses on ensuring that every Galion High School graduate is prepared for the next chapter in their lives. Her aim is for students to be enrolled in higher education, employable in their chosen career, or enlisted in military service upon graduation. She works closely with students to provide the tools and guidance needed to meet these goals.
Harnessing the Power of You Science
One of Heschel’s key strategies is administering the You Science assessment platform. This innovative tool uses brain games and research-based algorithms to identify students’ natural abilities and match them with suitable educational and career pathways.
Since October, students have been exploring options that align with their strengths. The platform’s insights make education more personalized and relevant, helping students see clear connections between their abilities and future opportunities.
You Science provides objective data during a critical stage in a student’s development. This information is used throughout the school year to help students set realistic goals, identify potential obstacles, and create actionable plans for success.
Mentorship and Guidance
In addition to using data-driven tools, Heschel serves as a mentor, helping students map out strategies to achieve their goals. By combining assessments with personal guidance, she ensures students are prepared to navigate challenges and make informed decisions about their futures.
Heschel’s role includes motivating students to visualize success and take proactive steps toward achieving it. Her mentorship is central to helping students see the big picture while staying focused on their individual journeys.
A Strong Foundation in Education
Lisa Heschel holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University and has extensive experience in classroom teaching and educational program development. She brings passion and dedication to her role, with a focus on empowering students to find their purpose and thrive.
Outside of her work at Galion High School, Heschel lives at Holiday Lakes with her husband and their two German Shepherds.
Her leadership in career readiness initiatives is positioning Galion High School students for long-term success, ensuring they graduate prepared and confident for the road ahead.
