The opening number at Colonel Crawford’s Eagle Extravaganza will give some of the district’s younger students a turn in the spotlight, with a familiar song and a chance to put singing, dancing, and acting together. The Colonel Crawford Music Theater Camp will prepare students in grades two through six to perform “Everything Is Awesome!” from The Lego Movie at the fourth annual Eagle Extravaganza on Saturday, November 21.
For families interested in participating, the first important date comes much sooner. Registration forms and the $40 entry fee are due Monday, October 5.
From Camp to Curtain
The three-day camp will introduce students to the vocals, choreography, and staging for their opening number. Participants will work toward a shared performance, learning how the music and movement fit together before bringing the piece to an audience. The registration fee includes a camp and performance T-shirt, instruction involving a professional choreographer, and participation in the Eagle Extravaganza opening number.
The program’s stated purpose is to give Colonel Crawford students an opportunity to sing, dance, act, and perform. With the campers opening the show, their work will help set the tone for the evening.
A November Date With the Stage
Camp sessions will take place from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM on Monday, November 9; Tuesday, November 10; and Thursday, November 12. Two additional dress rehearsals are scheduled for Monday, November 16, and Thursday, November 19, both from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM. Those rehearsals will lead into the Eagle Extravaganza performance at 7:00 PM on Saturday, November 21. All rehearsals and performances will take place in the cafetorium.
Families should keep the full schedule in mind when registering. The three camp afternoons are followed by the two evening dress rehearsals and the Saturday performance, giving students several opportunities to prepare before showtime.
