Galion City Schools has announced a new initiative aimed at enhancing students’ educational experience by managing its substitute teacher pool internally. It has invited all qualified substitute teachers to join the team directly, ensuring a seamless and consistent educational environment for students in the 2024-2025 school year.

Requirements for Becoming a Substitute Teacher

To ensure the safety and quality of education for tudents, all substitute teachers must meet the following requirements:

  • Background Checks: A current BCI and FBI background check must be on file in the office. Paper copies of your current background checks are acceptable. If you cannot provide current background checks, new checks will need to be completed.
  • Teaching License: A valid substitute teaching license from the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) is required.

Application Process

Once the required documents are submitted and verified, you will be able to pick up a payroll packet and be added to the Frontline system to accept open positions for the upcoming school year. Here’s a step-by-step guide to the application process:

  1. Submit Documents: Provide your current BCI and FBI background checks and a valid substitute teaching license from ODE to ther office.
  2. Pick Up Payroll Packet: After verification of your documents, collect a payroll packet from the office.
  3. Frontline System Registration: You will be registered in the Frontline system to start accepting substitute teaching positions.
