Galion Wrestling Finishes Runner-Up At MOAC Championships

The Galion High School wrestling team finished strong at the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference (MOAC) Championship meet on Saturday.

Clear Fork, which hosted the tournament, secured its third MOAC team title in the past five years, finishing with 197.5 points. Galion followed with 178 points, while Ontario (156) and Highland (142) rounded out the top four.

Three Tigers Claim Individual Titles

Galion’s performance was highlighted by three individual champions. Senior Gradey Harding captured his third MOAC title, dominating the 126-pound division with two pins and a tech fall. Harding was previously the 120-pound champion in both 2023 and 2024.

Sophomore Carter Trukovich needed just two victories to claim the 132-pound crown, adding another MOAC title to his résumé after winning at 113 pounds last season.

Junior Cameron Kuehlman powered his way to the 190-pound championship with one pin and two major decision victories.

Strong Overall Team Performance

Several other Tigers also made the podium:

  • 138 lbs: Alberty, 3rd
  • 144 lbs: Hay, 2nd
  • 150 lbs: Butcher, 6th
  • 165 lbs: Blake McDaniel, 2nd
  • 175 lbs: Brice McDaniel, 3rd
  • 215 lbs: Martin, 5th
  • 285 lbs: Garverick, 4th

Overall, Galion placed 11 of its 12 wrestlers, showcasing depth and determination. The team will now shift its focus to the postseason, beginning with the sectional tournament next Saturday on its home mat.
