A day of softball, friendly competition and community support is coming to PECO Park as Galion Youth Baseball and Girls Summer Softball host their annual Adult Coed Softball Fundraiser. The event will be held Saturday, August 22, with registration beginning at 9:00 AM and games starting at 10:00 AM. Proceeds will support Galion’s youth baseball and summer softball programs.
The fundraiser offers adults an opportunity to return to the field while helping provide opportunities for the community’s younger players. Organizers are inviting established teams as well as individuals who simply want to take part.
No Team Required
Players do not need to arrive with a complete roster. Those without a team can register individually, and organizers will place them with others who are ready to play and support the youth programs. The entry fee is $20 per person. That open format is intended to make the event accessible to former players, recreational athletes and anyone interested in spending a summer morning at the ballpark. While competition will be part of the day, the fundraiser’s central purpose is raising money for the programs that introduce Galion children to baseball and softball.
Supporting the Next Generation
Youth sports programs depend upon community support to cover equipment, field maintenance and other operating expenses. Events such as the coed tournament give local residents a chance to contribute while participating directly in the fun.
The combination of adult competition and youth support also creates a natural connection between generations of Galion players. Some participants may be returning to fields where they once played, while others may be parents, coaches or supporters of children currently involved in the programs.
PECO Park is located in Galion. Teams and individual players may preregister by calling or texting Bobby Lear at 419-617-8308.
