After a summer filled with field trips, Nature Camp and some of the Crawford Park District’s largest public events, the Junior Naturalist Club is returning to its regular monthly meeting schedule. The adventurous program is open to teens ages 12 through 18 who are interested in nature, curious about wildlife careers or simply want to learn more about the outdoors.
Meetings are held at Lowe-Volk Park and Nature Center, located four miles north of Galion on State Route 598.
Learning Through Experience
The Junior Naturalist Club offers more than traditional nature lessons. Members take part in service projects, workshops and citizen science activities while gaining practical experience in animal handling and care. Teens also volunteer during Park District events and participate in field trips designed to be both enjoyable and valuable learning experiences.
This summer, club members helped with Nature Camp and assisted during Living History Days, Animal Extravaganza and Water Carnival.
Halloween Volunteers Needed
The next major opportunity will come during Halloween Family Fun Night on Saturday, October 17. Junior Naturalists will be needed to help with scare-acting, animal exhibits and other seasonal activities throughout the evening. The event begins at 6:00 PM.

The club meets on the second Saturday of each month:

- Saturday, October 10 at 2:00 PM
- Saturday, November 14 at 2:00 PM
Halloween Family Fun Night will take place Saturday, October 17 at 6:00 PM.
