HomeGoods Opens This Week In Ontario

Galion shoppers will soon have another national retailer within an easy driving distance. HomeGoods will officially open its new Ontario store on Thursday, November 5, at Village Square, 929 N. Lexington-Springmill Road. The store will welcome its first customers at 8:00 AM and remain open until 10:00 PM for its opening day.

The opening brings a nationally recognized home furnishings retailer to one of the Mansfield area’s busiest shopping corridors, filling a space formerly occupied by Big Lots and expanding the selection of home-related merchandise available locally.

A New Beginning For A Familiar Storefront

The new HomeGoods occupies approximately 25,000 square feet in Village Square, a 166,000-square-foot shopping center that already includes Hobby Lobby, Dunham’s Sports, and Ashley HomeStore. The location is behind the new Chick-fil-A restaurant.

The project was announced earlier this year by Goodman Real Estate Services Group, which represented HomeGoods in securing the former Big Lots location. At the time, the company anticipated a fall 2026 opening. That timetable has now become a firm date, just as the holiday shopping season approaches. For Ontario, the arrival represents another investment in the Lexington-Springmill Road corridor, which serves shoppers from Mansfield, Shelby, Galion, Ashland, and communities throughout north-central Ohio.

A Store Built Around The Unexpected

Part of HomeGoods’ appeal is that no two shopping trips are necessarily alike. The retailer specializes in an of home furnishings, decorative accessories, kitchenware, bedding, rugs, lighting, and seasonal merchandise that changes on a regular basis. Shoppers might find an accent chair one week, a collection of imported ceramics the next, or an unexpected bargain on something they had not intended to purchase.

Unlike traditional retailers that maintain relatively predictable inventories, HomeGoods relies on a constantly changing selection of merchandise sourced from manufacturers and suppliers around the world. With the store opening in early November, holiday decorations, entertaining accessories, and gift possibilities are likely to be especially appealing to shoppers preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Another National Name For Ontario

HomeGoods is part of The TJX Companies, the retail organization behind T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and several other off-price shopping brands. Its expansion into Ontario reflects the strength of established shopping districts where customers can visit several retailers in a single trip. The Lexington-Springmill Road corridor already includes a concentration of national retailers, restaurants, and service businesses. Adding HomeGoods gives shoppers another reason to visit the area and provides an alternative to traveling to stores in Sandusky or the Columbus area.

Just In Time For Holiday Shopping

From table settings and decorative pillows to seasonal accents and gifts, HomeGoods offers merchandise suited to both everyday household needs and special occasions.

For area residents who have watched the former Big Lots storefront await its next occupant, Thursday’s opening will mark a visible change at Village Square. And for shoppers who enjoy the hunt for an unexpected find, the newest destination on Lexington-Springmill Road is about to open its doors.
