The sea creatures are stirring, the music is taking shape, and a familiar underwater world is getting ready to rise on the Galion Community Theatre stage. This summer, the theatre will present Disney’s The Little Mermaid, with performances scheduled across two weekends beginning July 24. The production brings Ariel’s story to Galion through a cast and crew now hard at work both on stage and behind the scenes.

Galion Community Theatre has been sharing glimpses of that preparation with an enthusiastic message for audiences: its “little sea creatures” are diving head first into the show and getting ready to welcome the community Under the Sea.

A Familiar Story Takes The Stage

At the center of the musical is Ariel, the youngest daughter of King Triton, whose fascination with the human world leads her toward Prince Eric and into a dangerous bargain with Ursula, the sea witch. Ariel agrees to trade her tail for legs, but the bargain is far from what it seems. Restoring order under the sea will require help from some of the story’s most colorful characters, including Flounder, Scuttle and Sebastian.

For local audiences, the result will be a live stage version of a story filled with adventure, humor, friendship and the pull of discovering a world beyond the one you know.

A Local Team Behind The Magic

The production is directed by Rachel Jarvis, with Amy Jarvis serving as music director and Beth Anne Jarvis as choreographer. Miranda Wise is stage manager.

Together with the cast and broader production team, they are preparing a show that depends on far more than what audiences see once the curtain rises. Costumes, choreography, music, scenery, lighting and backstage coordination all come together to create Ariel’s world. The production is presented by United Way of North Central Ohio.
