Galion City Schools has a busy lineup of events during the remainder of November, ranging from academic planning to athletic celebrations and community support initiatives.
Guiding Students Toward College Goals
For students in grades 8-12, the College Planning Seminar on November 18 offers a valuable chance to get ahead on their future. Hosted by the College Planning Alliance, the seminar will take place from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the Galion High School Cafetorium. Attendees will learn how to navigate the college admissions process, maximize scholarship opportunities, and take meaningful steps toward preparing for their next chapter. This event is an ideal resource for families looking to support their students in planning for post-secondary success.
Celebrating Athletic Achievements
November is a time of celebration for Galion’s student-athletes.
The Cross Country Banquet on November 19 will recognize the accomplishments of the cross country team. Held in the Galion High School cafeteria from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the event invites team members and their families to reflect on a season of dedication and hard work.
Similarly, the Volleyball Banquet on November 24 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Cafetorium will bring together the volleyball team, coaches, and families to honor the season’s highlights.
Parents of wrestling athletes are also invited to attend the Wrestling Parents Meeting on November 20 at 6:00 PM in the Galion High School cafeteria to discuss the upcoming season and connect with coaching staff.
Opportunities to Stay Informed
The Board of Education Meeting is scheduled for November 19 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Galion Middle School, located at 474 Portland Way N. This meeting provides an important platform for discussing district policies and updates. Families and community members are encouraged to attend and engage with the board.
Supporting Students and Families
Galion Schools is also focusing on empowerment and community support this month.
The Freshmen Empowerment Day on November 21 offers an all-day program designed to inspire and prepare ninth-grade students for their high school journey. Meanwhile, the Second Harvest Food Pantry will provide resources for families in need on November 25 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. This vital service underscores the district’s dedication to supporting its community beyond the classroom.
For primary school families, Picture Retakes will be held on November 26. This is an opportunity for students to update their school photos if needed.
Thanksgiving Break
Schools across the district will close for Thanksgiving Break from November 27 to November 29, giving students and staff time to rest and enjoy the holiday with their families.
