The Renaissance Theatre’s Wurlitzer organ holds a rich history, dating back to its original installation at Warner Brothers Vitaphone Company in 1929. From its early days of providing music for radio shows, including the iconic “Amos ‘n’ Andy Show,” to being the centerpiece of Hollywood actor Joseph Kearns’ home, this remarkable instrument has undergone several transformations. Under Kearns’ ownership, it was expanded and enhanced with additional ranks of pipes, becoming a treasure in the world of theater organs.

In 1985, the Mighty Wurlitzer found its current home at the Renaissance Theatre with the expertise of Ken Crome, a renowned theatre organ authority. It made its debut with a memorable concert by Lyn Larsen on May 17, 1985, captivating audiences with its grandeur.

The Phantom of the Opera screening will feature a completely restored version of the film, presented on the big screen in the Rand Smith Auditorium. This event is a rare opportunity to experience cinematic history in all its glory.
