Weekly weekend reports from District 3 of the Ohio Department of Transportation are now shared on 1831Galion. This year, we’re calling this feature the “Orange Cone Alert.”

Each week, we will bring you news of construction projects in Richland and Crawford Counties, as well as updates on Interstate 71 projects in Morrow and Delaware Counties. All of the following work is weather dependent.


CRAWFORD

State Route 39 resurfacing – State Route 39, from the village of Tiro in Crawford County to the village of Shelby in Richland County, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: September 2023


State Route 61 resurfacing – State Route 61, between SR 97 and the village of Crestline corporation limits, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: September 2023


State Route 96 resurfacing – State Route 96, between SR 98 and SR 602, is closed for 120 days for a full depth reclamation pavement project. One-way traffic will be maintained for locals only. The detour route for westbound motorists will be SR 96 to SR 602, south on SR 602 to CR 330 (Lincoln Hwy), west on CR 330 to U.S. 30, west on U.S. 30 to SR 98, north on SR 98 to SR 96, and reverse for eastbound motorists. Estimated completion: Tuesday, October 10, 2023


State Route 103 chip seal – State Route 103, between SR 4 and the west corporation limit of the village of New Washington; and from the east corporation limit of New Washington to the Huron County line, will have single lane closures for a chip seal project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: October 2023

RICHLAND

U.S. Route 30 major rehabilitation – U.S. 30 eastbound and westbound, from State Route 309 to just east of the 5th Avenue ramps, will have daily lane closures for a major rehabilitation project.

FINAL IMPACTS

  • Crews are wrapping up final project items that will have little to no impacts to traffic. Short, intermittent lane closures will be utilized when absolutely necessary. There should be very minimal impacts to traffic.

U.S. Route 30 minor rehabilitation – U.S. 30, from the 5th Ave interchange ramps to just past the Ashland County Line, will have lane closures for resurfacing. One lane of traffic with a minimum lane width of 12’ will be maintained in each direction at all times. Estimated completion of entire project: October 2023


U.S. Route 30 resurfacing – U.S. 30, from the Crawford County line to just west of Old Lincoln Way/W 4th Street, will have lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained in a minimum lane width of 12’ at all times using barrels. Estimated completion: September 2023


State Route 39 resurfacing – State Route 39, from the village of Tiro in Crawford County to just east of Funk Road in Richland County, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: September 2023


U.S. Route 42 resurfacing – U.S. 42, between Holloway/Eckert Road and Fox Road, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: September 2023


State Route 96 resurfacing – State Route 96, from Brannon Road to SR 39, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: September 2023


State Route 98 culvert replacement – State Route 98, between SR 598 and Baker Road, is closed for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists will be SR 98 to SR 598, north on SR 598 to SR 61, south on SR 61 to SR 98, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: Tuesday, September 5, 2023


State Route 430 chip seal – State Route 430, from Reed Road to Ashland County line, will have single lane closures for a chip seal project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: October 2023


State Route 603 bridge replacement – State Route 603, between Snake Road and Rome Greenwich Road, is closed at the structure over Shipp Creek for 90 days for a bridge replacement project. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 603 to SR 13, north on SR 13 to U.S. 224, west on U.S. 224 to SR 61, south on SR 61 to SR 603, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: Monday, November 6, 2023


State Route 603 ditch enclosure – NEW IMPACTS – State Route 603, between SR 96 and SR 545, will close Tuesday, September 5 for a ditch enclosure project. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 603 to SR 545, north on SR 545 to SR 96, west on SR 96 to SR 603, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: Friday, September 15, 2023
