Avita Health System has announced that they will be expanding their services into Shelby in early 2024.

“Avita has purchased a provider clinic at 24 East Whitney Avenue in Shelby, Ohio,” stated Jerry Morasko, President/CEO of Avita Health System. “The Shelby community has lost a lot of health care services, including the recent closing of the Shelby Hospital OB unit. I am happy that Avita will be able to provident convenient access to health care services to this area in addition to bringing new jobs to Shelby.”

The health system purchased the property earlier this week and are already in the building preparing for an opening in early 2024.

“We were lucky to find a property already set up as a medical clinic and are already inside making preparations to be ready to open after the new year,” explained Kim Winkle, Vice President of Operations at Avita Health System. “We will release additional information about specific services that we will be providing in the near future. We look forward to being in Shelby and part of the great things that are happening there.”

Avita Health System operates three not-for-profit hospitals (Galion, Bucyrus, and Ontario) in addition to two walk-in clinics (Ontario and Bellville), and two Level II Cath Labs (Galion and Ontario). The health care system also has 28 clinic locations throughout Bucyrus, Galion, Ontario, Crestline, New Washington, Bellville, and Shelby. Avita’s providers, including specialists, accept self-referral. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the provider’s office directly or calling their provider referral line at 419-468-0961.
