Local educators are gearing up for a unique experience that will provide them with insights into the manufacturing industry. The “Educator Manufacturing Boot Camp,” organized by the Mid Ohio Educational Service Center’s Business Advisory Council and the Crawford Partnership, is designed to give teachers and other education professionals a firsthand look at what it takes to work in manufacturing and how they can translate this knowledge into valuable classroom experiences.

A Comprehensive Program for Educators

The boot camp is structured to offer educators a deep dive into Crawford County’s manufacturing sector. Here’s a breakdown of the program:

  • Orientation: The boot camp kicks off on June 10 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, with an orientation session. This introductory meeting sets the stage for the days ahead, providing educators with a brief overview of the program and what they can expect during the week-long event.
  • Business Tours: From June 11 to June 13 participants will tour various manufacturing facilities in Crawford County. Each day, they will visit two different businesses, with tours running from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. This part of the program gives educators a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the manufacturing industry and an opportunity to engage with professionals in the field.
  • Presentations: The final session takes place on June 25 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. During this segment, participants will present what they’ve learned and share insights on how they plan to use this knowledge in their classrooms.

A Wealth of Benefits for Educators

In addition to the valuable experience and knowledge gained during the boot camp, educators who complete the program will receive several tangible benefits:

  • Graduate Credits: Participants can earn three graduate credits from Ashland University for a fee of $125. This fee is reimbursable upon completion, effectively making the credits free for those who complete the boot camp. This benefit allows educators to further their education while gaining practical knowledge.
  • Classroom Materials: Educators will also receive materials that they can use in their classrooms. These resources will help them create projects and units that reflect the real-world experience gained during the boot camp.
