1831Galion now provides regular weekend reports on road project work being conducted under the auspices of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) in Crawford, and Richland Counties.

Such work is, of course, weather dependent. This past week, ODOT District 3 shared announcements of current and upcoming work in the two county area.

U.S. Route 30 resurfacing – U.S. 30, from SR 98 to just east of SR 602, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Project work includes resurfacing and minor bridge work. Traffic will be maintained at all times. Estimated completion: December 2024


U.S. Route 30 culvert preservation – U.S. 30, from Crawford Wyandot Road to Old Lincoln Highway, will be reduced to one lane in each direction for a culvert maintenance project. One 12-foot lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. Estimated completion: August 2024


State Route 181 resurfacing – NEW IMPACTS – SR 181 in the village of Crestline, from SR 61 to Bucyrus Street, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: August 2024


State Route 598 resurfacing – NEW IMPACTS – SR 598, between the city of Galion and SR 39, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be always maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: August 2024


State Route 598 culvert replacement – State Route 598, between Middletown Road and Crestline Road, is closed to complete two culvert replacements. The detour route will be SR 598 north to U.S. 30 west to SR 602 north to County Road 330 east to SR 598, and reverse. Estimated completion: Friday, May 17, 2024


State Route 598 culvert replacement – NEW IMPACTS – State Route 598, between Klahn Road and German Road, will close Monday, May 20 for a culvert replacement. The detour route will be SR 598 north to Old Lincoln Highway (CR 330) west to SR 602 north to SR 96 east to SR 598, and reverse. Estimated completion: Friday, May 24, 2024

State Route 13 bridge repairs – State Route 13 (N Diamond Street) in the city of Mansfield, between Fac Ware Street and Olive Street, is closed for a bridge repair project. The detour will be SR 13 (N Diamond Street) to E 5th Street (SR 39 east) to Wayne Street (SR 545 north) to Longview Avenue west to SR 13. Traffic traveling south can utilize N Main Street (SR 13s). Estimated completion: Thursday, June 6, 2024


State Route 95 resurfacing – State Route 95, from the Knox County line to the village of Butler’s southern corporation limits, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained at all times utilizing flaggers. Estimated completion: June 2024


State Route 96 bridge replacement – State Route 96, between SR 603 and SR 545, is closed for 120 days for a bridge replacement project. The detour route will be SR 96 west to SR 545 south to SR 603 north to SR 96, and reverse. Estimated completion: Tuesday, August 20, 2024


State Route 97 culverts replacement – State Route 97, between Kelly Avenue and Bellville-Johnsville Road, is closed for two consecutive culvert replacements. The detour route will be SR 97 east to I-71 north to SR 13 south to SR 97, and reverse. Estimated completion: Friday, May 17, 2024


State Route 309 eastbound overhead bridge repairs (Home Road overpass) – State Route 309 eastbound, between West 4th Street interchange and U.S. 30 interchange, is closed for 10 days for bridge repairs on the Home Road overpass. The detour route for eastbound motorists is Lexington-Springmill Road to U.S. 30 east. Traffic on SR 309 westbound and traffic on Home Road will be maintained. Estimated completion: Wednesday, May 15, 2024


State Route 598 culvert replacement – State Route 598, between Dinninger Road and Henry Road, is closed for a culvert replacement. The detour route will be SR 589 north to SR 98 north to SR 61 north to SR 598, and reverse. Estimated completion: Monday, May 20, 2024
