It may have been a couple of minutes late in arriving, but Galion’s newest holiday tradition proved a popular way of marking an important occasion.

Known as “The Pickle With Personality,” the 13 pound pickle made its way down the facade of the building which houses the 1803 Brewery & Taproom in Uptowne Galion as dozens of onlookers looked on. The descent took place a couple of minutes later than planned, as the conclusion of the Ohio State game, which ended with a missed field goal, took place at midnight.

Undaunted, revelers took to Harding Way East to view the arrival of the pickle and the new year.

The event was the culmination of a night of revelry hosted by 1803, Planet 14, and the Galion Owls.
