Malabar Farm State Park, a short drive from Galion, can be a wonderful Christmastime place to visit, as it brings history, nature, and holiday cheer together. As the temperatures drop, the warmth of festive activities invites families to create memorable experiences.

Starting this month, the site has adopted winter hours to ensure guests have ample opportunity to explore. The gift shop will be open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekends, perfect for holiday shopping. For those interested in history and architecture, house tours will be available at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM every Saturday and Sunday.

The newly-redesigned Visitor Center, the heart of the site, will welcome guests every day from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Those who prefer to bask in the crisp outdoor air can take a stroll through the park grounds, which remain open from dawn to dusk daily.

The holiday spirit comes alive with the Candlelight Holiday Tours. On December 1 & 2 and December 8 & 9, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the site will glow with soft light, inviting visitors to a unique evening experience. The fun continues on December 3 & 10 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. These special tours will showcase the “Big House” adorned in festive décor, complete with baked cookies and warm drinks to enjoy post-tour.

An accessible fee structure ensures that everyone can enjoy the holiday festivities. Adults can embark on a tour for $6, while a discounted rate of $4 is available for youth. Tickets are to be purchased at the Visitor Center prior to the tour, making it a seamless entry to the holiday experience.

The site will observe closure on December 23, 24, 30, and 31, allowing staff and volunteers to celebrate the season with their loved ones.

As the community gears up for a season filled with joy, warmth, and tradition, these events promise to be a highlight on the winter calendar. Gather your friends and family, and make plans to partake in the festivities that await at the local historic site.
