During early August, Lowe-Volk Park will host a variety of exciting activities and events.

An archery shoot will take place on Wednesday, August 2, from 5 to 7 PM. This timeless outdoor activity will provide a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life, allowing participants to focus on hitting the target with great enthusiasm. Beginners and seasoned archers alike will be provided with all the necessary equipment and will receive an introduction to archery safety, ensuring a fun and safe experience. To secure a spot, those interested will need to register by calling the Park District at 419-683-9000.

Every Thursday morning throughout August, starting on August 3, the Park will come alive with “Nature Story Time,” a captivating event where families and nature enthusiasts can gather at 10 AM. With delightful nature-themed stories, the park aims to spark imagination and a deeper appreciation for the natural world. Animal visitors and activities related to each week’s story will make every session a delightful surprise. Rain or shine, the Nature Center will be the backdrop for these enchanting gatherings.

On the evening of Monday, August 7, visitors will have the chance to participate in a special event called “Feeding Day.” The Nature Center’s diverse animal residents will receive a variety of treats, from worms and mice to leafy greens and vegetables. Those attending will be invited to help Lisa feed some of the animal ambassadors, offering a unique and educational experience up close with these fascinating creatures.

The following day, Tuesday, August 8, young children aged 0 to 5 and their parents will embark on a watery adventure during “Little Explorers: Water” at 5 PM. This interactive program will stimulate their senses and develop fine motor skills through water experiments and playful activities. Splashing and sprinkling fun will be the order of the day, and families are encouraged to bring towels and spare clothes to embrace the wet and wonderful experience.

Finally, the highly anticipated “Water Carnival” will take place on Saturday, August 12, from 11 AM to 2 PM. The park will come alive with the joyous celebration of water’s significance in the ecosystem. Families will revel in a day filled with water games and activities, including an inflatable ball floating on water, a slippery and refreshing slip and slide, and entertaining water balloon competitions. People of all ages will come together, ready to appreciate the importance of water and create lasting memories with their loved ones.
