At the same time that the amazing Nature Connects display is taking place at Kingwood Center Gardens (our story on the exhibit can be read here), Kingwood is continuing its excellent set of workshops, classes, and presentations through the summer.

The following events are taking place there in the next three weeks. Note that registration is required.

1. Bromeliads for Beginners

  • Date: July 18, 2023
  • Time: 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
  • Description: Learn about different bromeliad varieties, their care needs, and propagation options. Your registration also gives you the chance to see Kingwood’s bromeliads on display in the Display Greenhouse.

2. Make a Flower Press

  • Date: July 25, 2023
  • Time: 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
  • Description: Enjoy your garden’s blooms all year round. Learn techniques to properly dry plant materials from Kingwood’s Horticulture Department and build a flower press to take home. All class materials are included in the registration.

3. The Good, the Bad and the Hungry: Dealing with Wildlife Conflict

  • Date: July 27, 2023
  • Time: 4:30 pm – 5:45 pm
  • Description: Learn how to manage wildlife damage in your home garden, including deer, squirrels, chipmunks, moles and voles. Join Marne Titchenell from OSU Extension to discover alternate methods to deal with wildlife conflict.

4. Create-Your-Own Clay Pot

  • Date: August 5, 2023
  • Time: 10:00 am – 11:00 am
  • Description: This family-friendly program allows you to make two clay pots to take home. Create the first pot using air-drying clay and personalize your second pre-made pot using paint. Admission for one adult and up to two children to complete the two pots together is included in the registration. Additional pots require an additional ticket.
