Imagine the sun gently rising, casting its first rays through the autumn leaves, as you find yourself more than two stories above a flowing stream. The morning air is crisp but invigorating, and the only sounds you hear are the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves in the wind. This is not a scene from a tranquil forest getaway; it’s your next yoga class.

Welcome to the Treehouse Classroom at the Ohio Bird Sanctuary, a unique space where nature and yoga intertwine, led by the inspiring instructor Julie Schwartz.

Starting September 7, Julie will guide you through a six-week Fall Yoga Series that promises not just physical well-being but a deep, spiritual connection with nature. Located at 3774 Orweiler Rd, just a few miles east of Galion near Clearfork Reservoir, this sanctuary opens its doors for this special series before the general public can enter, ensuring a private and serene environment.

Yoga and Nature are a Perfect Blend

The Treehouse Classroom offers an unparalleled experience, especially for those who are new to yoga. The class is designed to be gentle, focusing on breathing techniques, listening to your body, striking poses, and engaging in restorative postures. Julie Schwartz, a seasoned yoga instructor, emphasizes that this class is perfect for beginners. “We’re not just practicing yoga; we’re immersing ourselves in the natural world,” she says.

The class takes place early in the morning, allowing participants to lay and connect as the leaves above transition to their autumnal hues. But nature’s participation doesn’t end there. “Don’t be surprised if a butterfly or a ladybug decides to join us,” Julie adds with a smile. Participants are advised to dress according to the weather, as the class aims to be as close to nature as possible. However, if the skies decide to open up, a backup indoor location is readily available.

Essentials for Your Elevated Experience

For this unique yoga journey, participants are required to bring their own yoga mat and a bottle of water. Pre-registration is mandatory, ensuring that the class remains an intimate experience. The event is priced at $72 for the entire Fall Session, which includes six classes at $12 each. Classes are scheduled for Thursdays from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., running through specific dates in September and October.
