The Times-Reporter in Tuscarawas County shared a story last week about a trio of regular golfers aged 83, 88, and 100.

The 100-year-old member of that group is John Elliker. The piece by Times-Reporter writer Lee Elliott share the fact that Elliker is the last surviving member of his Galion High School class.

He graduated in the GHS Class of 1940. Among his classmates was local historian Dr. Bernard Mansfield.

A picture of Elliker and the other two golfers is included. The post can be read here.

John grew up in Galion and during his high school years lived at 112 South Boston Street. The house happened to be the parsonage for the First United Church of Christ across the street; John’s father Reverend Reuben Elliker was the pastor there.
