The Taylor Road composting facility in Galion is set to open its doors this weekend, specifically on Friday, September 15, and Saturday, September 16. Located at 545 Taylor Road, the facility will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on both days. This is an excellent opportunity for residents of the City of Galion and Polk Township to dispose of their yard waste responsibly and free of charge.

What’s Accepted and What’s Not

The facility is ready to accept various types of yard waste, including limbs, brush, grass clippings, and leaves. However, it’s crucial to note that chemically treated wood—like deck material and railroad ties—as well as stones and concrete, will not be accepted. The focus is on organic waste that can be easily composted, turning waste into valuable resources for the community.

Free Mulch for Residents

In addition to accepting yard waste, the Taylor Road facility also offers mulched material free of charge to residents. This mulch will be provided when available during the facility’s open hours. It’s a win-win situation: you get to dispose of your yard waste responsibly and can also take home some free mulch for your gardening needs.

Mark Your Calendars: Future Dates

If you can’t make it this weekend, don’t worry. The Taylor Road composting facility has already scheduled additional dates for the remainder of the year. Mark your calendars for the following weekends:

  • October 20, 21
  • November 17, 18

These dates offer more opportunities for residents to participate in this green initiative, contributing to a more sustainable and eco-friendly community.
