On Wednesday, October 18th, the Galion Public Library is inviting puzzle enthusiasts to a unique competition that promises to be as intellectually stimulating as it is fun. The event, dubbed the “Team Versus Puzzle Race,” will pit two teams against each other in a race to complete a 500-piece puzzle. The stakes are high, with the winning team taking home a 750-piece puzzle to tackle next.

The Rules of Engagement

Participation in this event requires prior sign-up, ensuring a balanced competition between the two teams. The sign-up process is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and participants can register by emailing nico@galionlibrary.org, calling 419-468-3203, or signing up in person at the library. The maximum number of participants is capped at 10, with each team consisting of up to five members. In case of an uneven team composition, the smaller team will be given a 10-minute head start, leveling the playing field.

The Venue and Timing

The race will take place in the library’s upstairs table space, providing ample room for both teams to spread out and strategize. The event will kick off at 4:00 PM and run until 8:00 PM, giving teams a solid four hours to complete their puzzles. Participants are welcome to bring their own drinks in closed containers, ensuring they stay hydrated during this mentally taxing competition.

How to Participate

Interested parties can sign up in one of three ways:

  1. Email: Send an email to nico@galionlibrary.org
  2. Call: Dial 419-468-3203 to register over the phone.
  3. In-Person: Visit the Galion Public Library at 123 N Market St, Galion, OH to sign up in person.

The Prize and Beyond

The winning team will not only earn bragging rights but will also receive a 750-piece puzzle to take home. This prize serves as both a trophy and a challenge, inviting the winners to continue honing their puzzle-solving skills. Whether you’re a seasoned puzzler or a newcomer looking to test your skills, this event offers a unique opportunity to engage in friendly competition while enjoying one of the world’s oldest pastimes.
