It’s been a sports-strong weekend for Galion High School teams as fall sports seasons wind down.

On Friday and Saturday, it was the turn of the GHS Boys Golf team to shine as they participated in their sixth consecutive state tournament, this year taking place on the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University.

The Tigers finished the two day Division II Championship in seventh place, with a total of 693 strokes, just behind Ottawa Hills and ahead of Lake Catholic.

The state champion was Jonathan Alter High School from Plain City.

The Tigers’ top individual finisher was Seniot Nick McMullen, who finished in 20th place.  Other Tiger team members participating were Logan Keller (tied for 30th); Nate McMullen (tied for 40th); Nate Barre (tied for 48th); and Braylen Hart (tied for 62nd).

After Friday, the Tigers stood in fourth place behind Johnathan Alter, Columbus Academy, and Carrolton.

Congratulations to the GHS Golfers for continuing the tradition of excellence!
