The three high school football teams in the 1831Galion coverage area have very different assignments this Friday night.

In the case of the Galion Tigers and Northmor Golden Knights, the teams will find themselves on the road facing good programs. Colonel Crawford is at home.

Both Galion and Colonel Crawford are unbeaten after four games, with Nortmor having only one loss on its record. Galion is taking busses to Shelby to take on long-time rival the Shelby Whippets; Shelby has a 3-1 overall record so far in 2023.

The first football game between the two schools took place on November 17, 1894 in Galion. The final score was 0-0.

The Tigers currently find themselves ranked 15th in the Division IV Associated Press Statewide Poll which came out earlier this week. They are situated between Columbus Bishop Hartley and Streetsboro in that list.

Colonel Crawford is also number 15 (in Division V) and hosts 2-2 Seneca East. The Eagles occupy a poll position between Columbia Station Columbia and Marion Elgin.

Northmor may have the tallest mountain to climb on Friday, as they travel to Danville to face 4-0 Danville, ranked 8th in Ohio in Division VII.
