ODOT Road Report – Week Of July 12-18, 2026

Attention, Galion area drivers! These are area construction and detour updates for the coming week as communicated from the Ohio Department of Transportation. Now that the summer construction season is in full swing, it pays to keep attention to the latest in road projects. For us, that covers projects in Crawford, Morrow, and Richland Counties.

Interstate Projects

There are currently no active construction projects or road closures.

U.S. and State Route Projects

U.S. Route 30 bridge replacement – U.S. 30 at the east and west bridges over the Norfolk Southern Railroad, just west of SR 98, will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for a bridge replacement project. Estimated completion: August 2027

CONTINUING IMPACTS

  • The U.S. 30 eastbound exit ramp to SR 98 is closed for 120-days for a bridge replacement. The detour route will be for motorists to continue on U.S. 30 east the CR 330/Bucyrus exit, take the exit and then turn left onto CR 330, and then reenter the highway onto U.S. 30 west to the SR 98 Plymouth St/Plymouth exit to get to SR 98. Estimated reopening: Thursday, September 17, 2026
  • Traffic has been switched into a new pattern using the median crossovers. One 11’ lane in each direction will be maintained on the westbound side of the roadway while crews work on U.S. 30 eastbound.

State Route 4 pavement repairs – SR 4 from the city of Bucyrus corporation limits to the Seneca County line will have single lane closures for a pavement repair project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: September 2026

State Route 96 pavement repairs – SR 96 from SR 602 to the Richland County line will have single lane closures for a pavement repair project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: September 2026

State Route 294 culvert replacements – NEW IMPACTS – SR 294, from Knauss Road to Marion Melmore Road, will close Monday, July 13 for two consecutive culvert replacements. The first culvert is along SR 294 between Knauss Road and SR 4, and once that culvert is completed, then crews will move along SR 294 to the second culvert between Knauss Road and Marion Melmore Road. The detour route will be SR 294 west to SR 4 south the U.S. 23 north to SR 231 north to SR 294 and reverse. Estimated completion: Friday, July 24, 2026


CONTINUING IMPACTS

SR 95 Bridge Preservation

  • SR 95 between Shaw Creek and Otter Creek will close starting Monday, June 1 for 60 days.
    • Detour: SR 95 to SR 746 to SR 529 to U.S. 42 to SR 95 or reverse.

U.S. 42 Resurfacing

  • U.S. 42 between the Delaware County Line and SR 61 will have various daytime lane restrictions (7 a.m. – 5 p.m.) starting Friday, May 15 through Fall 2026.

SR 61 Resurfacing

  • SR 61 between SR 229 and U.S. 42 will have various daily lane restrictions (7 a.m. — 5 p.m.) starting Monday, March 30 through Fall 2026.

Franklin & Morrow County Bridge Repairs

Detour: SR 61 to SR 19 to SR 19 southbound, or reverse.

SR 288 between SR 61 and SR 19 will close starting Monday, July 6 for 4 weeks.

Interstate Projects

Interstate 71 resurfacing – I-71 northbound and southbound from the Ashland County line to SR 13 will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Nightly lane closures will be from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for resurfacing work. Temporary, intermittent daytime lane closures will only be used when necessary. Estimated completion: October 2026

U.S. and State Route Projects

U.S. Route 42 minor rehabilitation – U.S. 42 (East Main Street) northbound and southbound in the village of Lexington, from SR 546 (Frederick Street) to Castor Road, will have daily lane closures for a roadway and intersection improvement project. The northbound and southbound driving lanes will be closed for sidewalk, signal, and roadway work. Traffic will be maintained with 12’ lanes in each direction with barrels. Project work includes adding bike lanes, reconfiguring intersection access, and various pedestrian improvements. Estimated completion: September 2026

U.S. Route 42 signal upgrades – U.S. 42 will have traffic signal upgrades at Hanley Road, the Kroger entrance near Stewart Road, Stewart Road, and Reiser Road/Eastview Drive intersections. Traffic will be maintained with shoulder work zones or daytime lane closures when necessary. Estimated completion: December 2026

U.S. Route 42 culvert project – NEW IMPACTS – Beginning the week of July 27, U.S. 42 north of the village of Lexington, at the Hanley Road intersection, will have lane restrictions for a culvert project. The Hanley Road closure scheduled for July 27 is also a part of this project work. U.S. 42 traffic will be maintained in 10-ft. lanes by portable concrete barrier wall. Estimated completion: October 2026

State Route 13 resurfacing – SR 13 northbound and southbound, from Hanley Road to Chilton Ave, will have closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained in a 12-ft lane using barrels. Estimated completion: May 2027

State Route 13 resurfacing – SR 13 from the Knox County line through the village of Bellville to Andrews Road will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: October 2026

State Route 95 resurfacing – NEW IMPACTS – SR 95 in the village of Butler, from Simmons Street to Traxler Street, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: October 2026

State Route 96 culvert replacement – NEW IMPACTS – SR 96, just east of Mansfield Adario Road, will close Monday, July 13 for a culvert replacement. The detour route will be SR 96 west to SR 603 north to SR 3 south to SR 96 and reverse. Estimated completion: Friday, July 17, 2026

Hanley Road culvert replacement – NEW IMPACTS – Hanley Road, just west of U.S. 42, north of the village of Lexington, will close Monday, July 27 for 30 days for a culvert replacement. The detour route will be west on Hanley Road to U.S. 42 south to Plymouth Street/Lexington Springmill Road north to Hanley Road and reverse. Estimated completion: Wednesday, August 26, 2026
