Galion’s Darker Past Returns To The Streets

For three Friday nights in October, the familiar streets of Uptowne Galion will become the setting for stories of mystery, scandal, crime, and things that may be harder to explain.

Eerie Galion Walks return for a third consecutive year beginning Friday, October 9, with additional walks scheduled for October 16 and October 23. Each evening begins at 8:00 PM at the Gazebo in Park Square.

The guided walks take participants along Harding Way, using the buildings and streets of downtown Galion as the backdrop for stories drawn from the community’s past. Rather than simply hearing local history recounted from afar, walkers will stand near the places where the events themselves unfolded. This year’s program includes newly uncovered stories alongside several returning favorites. Organizers promise an evening that mixes documented history with lingering questions about what may have remained behind.

History After Dark

Galion has accumulated more than a century and a half of stories along its main thoroughfare, including accounts of unusual deaths, crimes, scandals, personalities, and unexplained happenings. Eerie Galion Walks draw on that darker side of local history, presenting stories connected to specific downtown locations as the group moves through the city.

The result is part historical walking tour and part exploration of the paranormal, with participants left to decide where documented events end and legend begins.

An Evening at the Gill House

The walk concludes at the historic Gill House, what has become a statewide and regional area’s best-known landmarks and a frequent focus of paranormal investigation.

There, guests can enjoy refreshments while hearing about recent behind-the-scenes discoveries connected with paranormal activity at the house. The stop provides a fitting conclusion to an evening devoted to the less familiar side of Galion history, moving from the streets where generations lived and worked to a house that continues to inspire questions about its past.

Three Chances to Take the Walk

Eerie Galion Walks will take place Friday, October 9, October 16, and October 23. Each walk begins at 8:00 PM at the Gazebo in Park Square in Uptowne Galion.

Tickets are $11 per person. Participants must be at least 8 years old, and minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Tickets for all three evenings are now available through links on the Gill House Galion Facebook page at facebook.com/gillhousegalion.

For those willing to spend an October evening walking through Galion after dark, the invitation is simple: follow the streets, listen to the stories, and decide for yourself just how much of the city’s past may still be present.
