Pioneer Career and Technology Center has named its Students of the Month for May 2023.

One of the two students selected for that honor was Mia Felder, a junior from Galion High School. Mia is pursuing course work in Dental Assisting.

Also named as Kate Fetzer, a junior in Early Childhood Education from Ontario High School.

Pioneer Career and Technology Center (PCTC) in Shelby has played a significant role in shaping the futures of many students. As the fifth-largest vocational school in Ohio, PCTC’s influence spans across the counties of Richland and Crawford, extending its educational opportunities to juniors and seniors from fourteen partner schools in the region.

The center offers more than 35 programs in various exciting career fields. These include Engineering Design, IT Support, Culinary Arts, and Health Services among others. A significant advantage of these programs is that they not only make students career-ready but also college-ready, with many of them offering industry credentials and college credit. The choices available at PCTC ensure that students can find a program that aligns with their career aspirations and interests.

Students also gain exposure to national-level events. In April 2023, students from Pioneer’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter attended the BPA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California. The conference, attended by an estimated 6,000 delegates, allowed students to compete in business and information technology skills competitions, attend leadership and professional development workshops, and engage in community service activities. The Pioneer students who attended performed impressively in their respective fields.
